Near Space Corporation Successfully Flies a 2-Balloon Constellation for NASA Flight Opportunities Program

Tillamook, OR – On 25 September, Near Space Corporation successfully launched two high-altitude balloons in series, 30 minutes apart into the skies over central Oregon for the NASA Flight Opportunities Program.  These flights, launched just after dawn, assessed the utility of multiple sensors and a beyond line of site (BLOS) tactical data link network.  Both flights were launched from the same location and successfully achieved float altitudes in excess of 93,000 feet.  All systems performed well with the payloads recovered intact and undamaged.  Formal analysis of specific payload performance will be performed in concert with the National Assessment Group (NAG), Sandia National Laboratory, Near Space Corporation, the data link providers, and the DoD Joint Staff.
